Terms of service

Effective date: [date]

The short version

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Oakstead Reports, the operator of this website ("we," "us"). By using this website, you agree to them. You must be at least 18 years old to use the service.

2. What the service is

The service is a self-service document tool. It arranges information you provide into packets formatted for reporting to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), law enforcement, cryptocurrency exchanges, or an attorney.

We do not:

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the FBI, IC3, the FTC, any law enforcement agency, any cryptocurrency exchange, or any law firm. The service is a self-help tool and is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. Using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. If you're considering legal action, talk to a licensed attorney.

3. No guaranteed outcome

We can't control what any agency, exchange, platform or attorney does with your packet. We make no promise that anyone will investigate, freeze funds, recover money, or take any other action.

4. Your responsibilities

5. Free service

The IC3 summary, packet previews and guides are free. Paid packets aren\'t available yet. Before they are, we\'ll update these terms, and prices will always be shown before you enter any information.

6. Refunds

Nothing on this website can be bought yet, so no payments or refunds apply. Our refund policy explains how refunds will work once paid packets are available.

7. Your packets and our content

The packets you create belong to you. The website, the report form, our guides and our design belong to Oakstead Reports and may not be copied or resold without our permission.

8. Disclaimer

To the extent the law allows, the service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy. We work to keep the report form and our guides correct, but our guides are general information drawn from public sources and may become outdated. You are responsible for reviewing every packet before you use it.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including the losses from the original scam or any outcome of reporting it. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be waived under applicable law, including under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. If you have a concern, please email us first so we can try to resolve it. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Tarrant County, Texas, except that either of us may bring a claim in a small claims court that has jurisdiction.

11. Changes and contact

If we change these terms, we'll update the effective date above. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These terms, together with our privacy policy and refund policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the service. Questions: hello@oaksteadreports.com.
